Albury's 2025 Environmental Citizen of the Year

David Petrovic, a dedicated environmental advocate, has been awarded the 2025 AlburyCity Environmental Citizen of the Year for his extensive contributions to the local environment. A member of the Woolshed Thurgoona Landcare Group (WTLG) since 2008, David has been instrumental in biodiversity conservation, education, and community engagement.

David’s efforts include organizing planting days and nest box installations, improving the connectivity of native habitats in the Thurgoona/Wirlinga region. He has also led educational workshops, raising awareness about environmental issues among school and community groups. David played a key role in establishing WTLG’s Annual Native Plant Giveaway in 2015, which has significantly enhanced local biodiversity.

Additionally, as Coordinator of The Connecting Landscapes project, he has worked to create and rehabilitate critical wildlife corridors, benefiting threatened species like the Squirrel Glider. His leadership has not only promoted environmental sustainability but has also fostered community connections.

David’s passion and dedication have made Albury a better place for both people and wildlife. He is a role model for all ages. His recognition as Environmental Citizen of the Year is a well-deserved acknowledgment of his lifelong commitment to conservation.
