Connecting Landscapes Project - Community Tree Planting Day 2nd August 2025
Join us for Planet Ark’s National Tree Day as we continue Woolshed Thurgoona Landcare’s Connecting Landscapes project, proudly supported by AlburyCity. This planting will take place on a site covering just over one hectare, located directly across the road from the area planted on 19 July.
The Connecting Landscapes project aims to restore the critically endangered Grassy Box Gum Woodland by creating habitat corridors that support the movement of native wildlife across the landscape.
This planting will focus on improving the diversity and structure of the understory, with a mix of small trees, shrubs, groundcovers, and native grasses. Enhancing the understory is crucial for many woodland birds and native animals, providing them with the food, shelter, and nesting sites they need to survive. A healthy understory improves habitat complexity and helps protect small species that rely on dense vegetation for safety and foraging.
WHEN: Saturday, 2 August 2025 09:00am to 12:00pm
WHERE: The planting will take place 68 Rocky Hill Retreat Wirlinga, off Pastoral Lane. Directional signs will be in place on the day along Pastoral Lane and at the site entrance to help guide participants.
