Connecting Landscapes Project - Community Tree Planting Day 19th July 2025
This planting is part of Woolshed Thurgoona Landcare’s Connecting Landscapes project, proudly supported by AlburyCity. The goal of the project is to restore the critically endangered Grassy Box Gum Woodland by creating habitat corridors that enable wildlife to move more freely across the landscape.
Covering approximately one hectare across four nearby sites of varying size and terrain, this particular planting will prioritise enhancing the diversity of the understory. A mix of small trees, shrubs, groundcovers, and native grasses will be established to improve habitat complexity.
Understory vegetation plays a vital role in supporting birds and other native wildlife by providing food, shelter, and nesting sites. These layers are essential for the survival of many small woodland species that depend on dense, diverse plant cover for protection and foraging.
WHEN: Saturday, 19 July 2025 09:00am to 12:00pm
WHERE: The planting will take place off Rocky Hill Retreat which is off Pastoral Lane. Directional signs will be in place on the day along Pastoral Lane and at the site entrance to help guide participants.
