Connecting Landscapes Project - Community Tree Planting Day

This planting is part of Woolshed Thurgoona Landcare’s Connecting Landscapes project which has been funded by AlburyCity. The project aims to revegetate critically endangered Grassy Box Gum Woodland creating habitat linkages for wildlife to freely move along. This site is over 18ha in size and extends along a ridge line across two private properties.

Ben Humphries from BirdLife Australia identified a number of native bird species on a recent walk around the site, these included: Magpie, Magpie Lark, White-plumed Honeyeater, Striated Pardalote, Eastern Rosella, Flame Robin (males/females), Red Rumped Parrot, Brown Treecreeper, Superb Fairy Wren, Little Corella, Yellow-rumped Thornbill, Grey Shrike-thrush, Galah, Noisy Miner. This activity will build on previous plantings and help to create links between existing vegetation.

WHEN: Sunday, 31 July 2022 10:00am to 12:30pm

WHERE: The planting will take place at the end of Dca Lane.  Access to Dca lane is off Knobles Road which will be sign posted on the day.

WHAT IS PROVIDED:

  • Lunch, drinks, refreshments and snacks will be provided
  • All tools for planting
  • Portable toilet
  • Following planting and lunch, a representative from BirdLife Australia will give a brief talk on birds in the area and available to answer questions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Limited parking at top of hill.
  • Wear sturdy shoes and bring your own gloves, hat, sunscreen.
  • This site is quite steep, and may not be suitable for people with mobility issues.
  • Children must be supervised at all times.
